In this Privacy Policy we’ve provided lots of information on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.

 

Who I am and what I do

 

Anna Place is a sole trader working under the trading name of A Place for Dyslexia.

A Place for Dyslexia provides Diagnostic Assessments and Specialist Study Skills Support. Anna is registered with the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC), a representative organisation for professionally qualified diagnostic assessors of specific learning difficulties (SpLD) and professional associations, Patoss and Dyslexia Guild.

 

As the data controller for A Place for Dyslexia, Anna is registered with the information commissioner’s officer (ICO). 

 

Types of data and why data is collected

 

When a client contacts A Place for Dyslexia to provide specialist support or an assessment we will be required to collect a range of information to enable us to fulfil that service provision. These generally include:

 

  • Contact details: name, email address, postcode and telephone number

  • Reason for your enquiry (e.g. to book an SpLD assessment)

  • Personal identifiers and biographical information, for example date of birth

  • Sensitive personal data. It is at your discretion what information you provide. This may include details of a disability or specific learning difficulty

  • Dates of meetings held with a client

  • Details of a client’s university/workplace where the client has given consent to liaise

Sharing of information

 

Any information collected through your initial enquiry is private and confidential and will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent. 

Assessment data will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (2018). The information will not be shared with third parties without your permission unless there is a legal requirement to do so.

In respect of Disabled Students’ Allowance specialist support sessions, data will only be shared to carry out this provision with relevant bodies e.g. Department for Education/Student Finance England.

We do not use automatic decision makers or profiling.

Digital information is password protected and any relevant paperwork is kept in a locked cabinet.

Data is kept only for as long as necessary and is then destroyed/deleted. In line with current professional guidance, assessment reports are generally stored for six years.

To view, amend or delete personal data, email your request to contact@aplacefordyslexia.co.uk Note: Requests to delete data relating to an individual will be considered on a case by case basis but we may be unable to remove all assessment records/support notes for legal reasons.

Alternatively, you have the right to raise any concerns with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) via their website at https://ico.org.uk/concerns/.

 

We may need to update this privacy notice periodically so we recommend that you revisit this information from time to time. This version was last updated in March 2025.
